Bake Sale

Mrs. McPhee and Mrs. Coopers grade 5 class organized a Bake Sale to help raise support for the residents of Fort McMurray. It was truly a team effort, with staff and students donating baked items, Mrs. Hill’s class making bracelets to sell, Mrs. Frank overseeing the set-up and clean-up of the gym, Mrs. Moore supervising the Freeze table, and some leadership students counting the money that was collected. Staff and students were excited to be able to buy a delicious treat or two, and help a very important cause at the same time. With this event, ARK raised over $760.00, which will be matched by the Canadian Red Cross. Congratulations to the entire ARK family for working together to help support our Alberta neighbours!

Jump Rope for Heart

ARK staff and students had a great day on May 20th, participating in our annual Jump Rope for Heart fundraiser to raise money for the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation. Students collected donations from family and friends during the week leading up to our event and then spent a portion of their day either outside skipping or in the gymnasium playing basketball. Thank you to our school community for their generosity in helping us raise much needed funds for the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation. 

Me to We Club

Our small but mighty Me to We Club has had another successful year of learning about world issues and helping people around the world. We hosted our annual Me to We Garage Sale on Friday, June 10. We sold toys, books, games and posters. We had a raffle for a kid’s tent and a big train set (donated by Mrs. McPhee) and both winners came from Ms. Maree’s JK/SK class. Our grand total for the garage sale was $215.00! Our club decided to support the “Reducing Poverty” pillar of Me to We projects by sending money to income generating projects that help women in developing countries learn trades like farming or other home industries so they can become self-sufficient and support their families. Thanks to students, families and staff who donated all the great “stuff” for our Garage Sale, and thanks to everyone who came out and supported this great leadership program. A big thanks to all the Me to We Club members and Mrs. Wallace for all of her help.
