A.R. Kaufman celebrated an outstanding Family Science Event last night. A large number of families came with their children to enjoy an array of science activities in a packed gym. Thank you to all for bringing your families to this great evening. It was wonderful to see so many of you playing, learning and being scientists! A very special thank you to our community who greatly impressed the visiting scientists with their engagement! Scientist Amy Van der Putten praised our community by saying, “I would like to thank you and your friendly and welcoming staff, students, parents and Junior Scientists for a great Family Science Night yesterday – our presenters and I really enjoyed visiting your school!” Thank you ARK!

Six amazing women scientists; Amy Van der Putten, Eleanor Laugier, Erica Nielsen-Killins, Diane Tomas, Jennifer Janssen, and Jillian Hodgson led the experiments, supported by our junior scientists namely Lian, Devin, Tiho, Amr, Iman, Alison, Jenna, Helen, Ammar and Noor. Thanks to Mrs. Duong, Mrs. Riche, Mrs. Mackey, Mrs. Pedersen, and Mr. Newberry for coming and supporting this excellent event. Last but not the least, thank you to Miss Dahmer for organizing the event.

Best of all, our grades 4-8 classes have been sponsored by the National Science and Engineering Research Council (NSERC) to receive 2 complimentary workshops each –The first round of workshops will be delivered before the end of December 2016, and the other is to be delivered between January and June of 2017.

We sincerely thank National Science and Engineering Research Council (NSERC) and Scientists in Schools for their generosity.
